The final conference of the Serbian-Hungarian IPA project called “INNOAXIS - The borderline as an axis of innovation” was organised by the Centre for Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA RKK) - as the lead partner of the project - with cooperation of the Regional Scientific Association (RTT) and the Local Government of Mórahalom. This important event of the project was held in Baja on 19th July 2011. The main aim of the conference was to introduce the prepared documents: the Economic Operative Program and the Human Operative Program. The professional lectures also presented at the conference revealed the developmental and cooperation opportunities of the border regions.

The workshop of the Hungarian–Serbian project called “INNOAXIS - The borderline as an axis of innovation” was organised by the Centre for Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA RKK) and the Regional Scientific Association (RTT) with the contribution of the Local Government of Mórahalom. The primal aim of the professional forum was to summarise the so far accomplished work of the INNOAXIS project, to discuss the strategic background materials of the eight sectors defined in the project and to create a basis for the operative programs regarding the INNOAXIS territory.

The project aims at a coordinated study on the development potentials of the cross-border region of Serbia and Hungary, implemented by a joint activity of a state-run research institute from Hungary and an NGO dedicated to scientific research from Serbia. The main idea of the project is a long term sustainable development of the cross-border region, by strengthening cooperation and common exploitation of socio-economical opportunities, based on our concept of the borderline as an axis of innovation.
